Job Description

Our client is seeking an Art Portfolio Manager for their asset management team.  The role involves identifying, evaluating and acquiring high-value art / paintings that align with the company’s vision.  The incumbent will manage a portfolio of collections, ensuring the preservation of artworks.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement acquisition strategies to enhance the organization’s art collection.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify potential acquisitions and stay updated on art market trends.
  • Identify and source valuable artworks through auctions, galleries, and private sales.
  • Negotiate purchase terms and prices to secure artworks at favorable conditions.
  • Oversee the management and preservation of the existing art collection, ensuring proper documentation and care.
  • Manage acquisition budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
  • Build and maintain relationships with artists, dealers, galleries, and other industry professionals.
  • Regularly assess the value of the portfolio and artworks to ensure accurate documentation.
  • Collaborate with curators to plan and execute exhibitions and displays of acquired works.
  • Prepare detailed reports on acquisitions, market trends, and collection status for stakeholders.
  • Ensure proper care, preservation and conservation of artworks.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Fine Arts, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in art acquisition, curation, or a related field. Experience in negotiating and purchasing art is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of art history and market trends.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct detailed research and analysis.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Passion for art and a keen eye for valuable pieces.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Flexibility to travel.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to preserving art.
